CPUK’s £27m fillip at start of year

West Lancashire building group Construction Partnership UK (CPUK Group) has recorded a strong start to 2017 with a £27m boost to its order book.

The Skelmersdale-based company sealed a number of major contracts in January on a range of new developments and in all sectors. Its total order book now amounts to £90m.

They include a £17m student accommodation development in Glasgow and a major £4m commercial project in Greater Manchester.

Successful completions include Deasy Road in Coventry, a multi-storey 155 bed student accommodation scheme for Beechfield Estates.

CPUK Group managing director Steve Burke said: “We have had an exceptionally strong start to the year, with more projects also in the pipeline. It is very encouraging.

“There is real confidence out in the marketplace and we’re seeing no signs of that confidence being shaken, even by the uncertainty caused by the Brexit vote. Developers remain keen to get their projects off the ground.

“The commercial and logistics sector remains buoyant with speculative developments now back on the agenda to feed an increasing demand for quality warehousing.

“We’re still seeing good growth in retail, particularly on out of town sites and the student accommodation boom shows no signs of slowing down, with good quality schemes such as the one we have been appointed to in Glasgow, coming off the drawing board.

“The housing sector continues to grow as well, fuelled by the need to build more homes, and we’re working on strong, well thought out developments across the North West, with a number of other schemes again in the pipeline.

“From office refurbishment to social housing, we are now involved in projects across all sectors. We’re also winning more work outside our traditional North West base, which is again pleasing.

“And through excellent client relationships and a strong record of delivery there’s a high level of repeat and negotiated business.”
