Manchester infrastructure specialist swoops for Watford firm

Manchester-based infrastructure specialist Sudlows has acquired Watford company Progressive Network Solutions, a provider of technical installation services across the UK.

Sudlows has three core divisions – critical infrastructures, enterprise services and facilities management.

A cross-discipline team at listed law firm Gateley, led by corporate partner Charles Glaskie advised on the deal, the value of which was undisclosed.

The team included, employment senior associate Fran Read, tax legal director Richard Clitherow and corporate solicitor Michael Rock.

The corporate finance team at CLB Coopers, with Simon Carruthers as lead advisor, provided financial due diligence on the acquisition to Sudlows.

With more than 50 years’ experience working with major organisations and blue chip clients across a range of sectors, Progressive’s executive management team will remain within the business and will assist in the development of Sudlows’ strategic growth plan.

This strategic acquisition strengthens Sudlows’ provision of infrastructure services and is part of their long-term strategy to augment growth through carefully selected acquisitions.

John Collins, managing director of Sudlows, said: “The Progressive acquisition is part of our continued investment strategy to expand across the UK, in key national locations. Progressive’s Southern regional customers will extend our client base in the South and allow us to offer Sudlows wider services to these customers.”

Glaskie said: “This acquisition strengthens Sudlows’ service offering across the UK, as well as developing their strategic growth plan. I’m delighted that we could support Sudlows throughout this acquisition and I’m confident that the business will continue to go from strength to strength.”

Carruthers added: “This acquisition demonstrates the commitment of Sudlows’ senior management to its plans for strategic growth as it strengthens its offering across the wider UK. Helping entrepreneurs and business owners, like Sudlows’ management team, to make their plans a reality is the lifeblood of our business and we look forward to continuing to work with them in the future.”

As part of the integration process, Sudlows and Progressive will be relocating to larger premises, which will form part of the operational hub for the Southern region for Sudlows Group.
