Liverpool healthcare cash plan provider Medicash has promoted its head of finance to the board as its new finance director.

Andy Roberts, 31, began his career with global accounting firm PwC before joining Medicash in 2011.  He was subsequently promoted to head of finance in 2015.

In the company’s annual accounts published last year, Medicash reported record results with premium income hitting £23m – up 5.5% from £21.8m in 2014.

Sales of company paid plans rose to 41,469, up from 38,477 in 2014 driven by a strong intermediary led market, whilst the total number of Medicash policyholders grew by 11% to 188,314 – up from 169,918 the previous year.

Chief executive Sue Weir said: “Andy has consistently played a key role in our progress working on a variety of important strategic projects. We are delighted to welcome him to the Board and are confident he will continue to make an important impact on our future development.”

Roberts said: “This is an exciting opportunity. Medicash is an ethical and ambitious organisation and I am very much looking forward to making a valuable contribution to Medicash’s next phase of growth.”

Graphic designer Adam Taylor has joined Macclesfield-based integrated marketing agency ClientsFirst as head of design.  

Taylor spent six years at Phones4u where he was responsible for print and digital collateral for more than 700 high street stores. He also worked on joint campaigns with major brands including Apple, Samsung, Sony and Microsoft.  
Taylor also has agency-side experience with stints at Enlighten and Trowers Creative.

We’ve worked hard over the last year putting the foundations in place ready for further growth and the appointment of Adam has been an integral part of this.  

“Head of design is a pivotal role in the business and we’re delighted that Adam has decided to join our growing team. The agency employs 21 staff and clients include Close Brothers, Saffron Building Society, Capital Asset Management and Greystone Financial Services.

Preston accountancy firm Rotherham Taylor has taken on a new trainee, the firm’s fourth new appointment in the last 18 months.

Nicola Lawrenson the company, having previously worked in industry, where she gained the MAAT accounting qualification and the IAB payroll qualification.

At Rotherham Taylor, Lawrenson will begin working towards the prestigious ACA accountancy qualification.

She said: “I am delighted to have joined Rotherham Taylor Limited. This is an exciting place to work and to progress in my accountancy career.

“I am now looking forward to being able to make a difference for our clients.”
