Green firms line up for awards

A WATER PARK, a paper manufacturer and a mobile phone company are among the firms in the running for this year’s Northwest Business Environment Awards.
The awards, which take place on October 19 at The Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, recognise environmental conscious businesses across the region.
The event’s guest speaker is environmentalist Jonathon Porritt who will discuss the importance of business leadership in creating a sustainable future.
The North West’s award winners are also now eligible to enter the international European Business Awards for the Environment.
Todd Holden, director of the Enworks, environmental business support partnership which is hosting the awards, said: “With Jonathon Porritt on board and a number of high profile guests and media attending, this year’s ceremony promises to be our best celebration yet.”
More than 100 businesses entered the competition from across Cheshire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Merseyside.
The annual awards are managed by ENWORKS and supported by the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA). Sponsors include Business Link Northwest, C-Tech Innovation, Envirolink Northwest, Groundwork Northwest, the Institute of Directors and the Lancaster Environment Centre.
