HKR closes Manchester office

THE MANAGEMENT team at HKR Architects’ Manchester office are to set up a new venture after its Dublin-based parent placed the division into administration as part of a restructuring exercise.
Sale-based insolvency specialist Milner Boardman & Partners has been appointed as administrators of HKR Manchester, which had been based at The Pinnacle on King St.
The company employed around 15 people at the offices and was led by director Phil Doyle, who has now formed 5Plus architects alongside fellow directors Carly Grice, Jon Matthews, Paul Norbury and Adam Thornton. They will be based at Grange House in John Dalton St in Manchester. It has been involved in the design of a number of major projects in the city in recent months, including Argent’s The Hive development, which formally opened last week.
The firm’s departure from The Pinnacle in recent weeks following South African bank Investec’s confirmation that it is to move to new offices in Spinningfields which it will share with investment management firm Rensburg Sheppard.
