MyProtein flexes its muscles in Europe

Sports supplements firm MyProtein has launched dedicated websites into five European countries – Germany, France, Ireland, Italy and Spain.

The Manchester-based firm said that the launch would allow customers in each area to access local language sites and to benefit from cheaper delivery rates.

The company, which is owned by Oliver Cookson, added that it had set its sights on becoming the number one sports nutrition brand in Europe.

Founder and managing director, Oliver Cookson, said: “We have seen triple digit growth in orders from Europe in the last few months, as word has spread across the continental mainland. It is clear that the Myprotein philosophy of offering high quality sports nutrition at low prices has universal appeal.”

“I’m very confident we can replicate and build on the success in the UK by sticking to our core brand values. This marks a new era of expansion for the company and one that we are incredibly excited about.”

Cookson had appointed advisors from the Manchester office of corporate finance boutique Altium earlier this year to investigate the potential of a partial sale to private equity buyers. The process is understood to be ongoing, but the company declined to comment on the matter.
