Lettings latest: Insurance broker moves into Port of Liverpool: Sofa retailer CSL pushes southwards; and more

COMMERCIAL insurance broker Powell Bateson has taken a ten-year lease on a 3,000 sq ft suite on the first floor of the Grade ll* listed Port of Liverpool building.
Powell Bateson, established by two experienced directors providing insurance broking services, said that the move to the Port of Liverpool Building, which is owned by Liverpool-based developer Downing, would allow it to supports its growth plans.
The suite has been fully refurbished as part of a wider £15 million restoration programme of the building.
Karen Bateson, at Powell Bateson, said: “Having our company in such a historic and striking building was a real dealmaker for us. The office environment is exceptional and includes all of the facilities we would expect to provide for staff and clients.”
The restoration of the Port of Liverpool building – one of the city’s Three Graces – has included repairing and cleaning its Portland stone exterior and restoring its internal Terrazzo flooring and marble wall cladding using identical materials.
Robin Ellis, senior agency surveyor at Downing, said: “The Port of Liverpool Building continues to attract healthy interest and we’ve worked hard to ensure it has all the modern facilities that today’s businesses require while complementing the stunning fabric of the building.”

CS Lounge Suites (CSL) has taken a new 15-year lease at Octagon Retail Park in Stoke-on-Trent from landlord UK & European Investments Ltd.
The company, which is based at Golbourne in Wigan, will pay pay an annual rent of £18.50 per sq ft on the unit, which has a floorplate of 10,594 sq ft and a mezzanine level of 3,250 sq ft. It was advised on the deal by the Manchester office of Savills.
David Hodgson, CSL’s head of Property, comments: “This is a good result for CSL having secured a prominent standalone site on Octagon Retail Park and these types of freestanding, high profile opportunities are exactly the sort of sites the company is seeking to secure.”
William Hatton, director at Savills, said: “This latest acquisition is part of CSL’s strategy to expand its growing brand out of its core operating area of the North West, Yorkshire and North East into the Central TV region to complement its store at Giltbrook in Nottingham.”

Genesis Wellbeing clinic has opened a new premises offering medical health checks, holistic therapies and cosmetic treatments at One Park West, the series of apartment blocks that form part of Grosvenor’s Liverpoool One scheme.
The clinic is relocating from Rodney Street in order to provide a more comprehensive service to to business customers and ‘walk-in’ customers to the centre on The Strand.
