Appointments: Moves at Russells Construction and Glaisyers

MANCHESTER-based law firm Glaisyers Solicitors is continuing to grow with the appointment of Gemma Sargent in its commercial property practice.

Ms Sargent, 27, joins the firm as solicitor working in the busy commercial property department. Prior to joining Glaisyers, she spent two years training at Cobbetts, where she gained experience in commercial property, property finance and construction.

At Glaisyers, she will be specialising in advice for the firm’s commercial property clients with a landlord and tenant caseload.

Ms Sargent said: “Glaisyers has an excellent reputation within the North West. The commercial property team has the breadth and depth of experience to really benefit my professional development.”

RUSSELLS Construction has announced a second appointment to its board in as many months. Lee Downs, who joined the Manchester-based company in 2006 as financial controller, has been named financial director.Lee Downs, Russells Construction

The 37-year-old holds the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants professional qualification which he gained during his work in practice traineeship at Booth Ainsworth chartered accountants in Stockport. He went on to hold posts at BNFL in Warrington, BHW Components in Wigan and Admiral Leasing in Oldham.

Lee has taken over the day-to-day finances and long term strategic financial planning at the business which employs 40 staff.

He said: “I am delighted to bring the experience I have gained in a range of industries and accounting roles to Russells Construction in order to continue to grow the business and I look forward to the many challenges of this new position.”
