A FORMER Allied Carpets distribution depot in Raikes Lane, Bolton, has been sold to local kitchen and bathroom firm Mark Two Distributors for £1.75m.

The freehold for the 180,000 sq ft of industrial/warehouse and office space on a 7.4 acre site was sold on behalf of restructuring firm Hilco by the Manchester office of Colliers. Mark Two, which sells its products to major DIY and homeware retailers under to Balterley Bathrooms and Lakes Kitchens brands, was advised by Manchester-based consultancy Scott Frazer.

Julien Kenny-Levick, director, logistics and industrial at the Manchester office of Colliers International, said: “This sale is further proof of the return of the freehold market for competitively-priced property complexes and demonstrates an appetite amongst occupiers seeking longer term property strategies.”

Phil Holmstrom, finance director at Mark Two Distributors, said: “Mark Two Distributors are keen to plan for the future and continue to look for new opportunities.

“The purchase of the building gives us the growth potential and flexibility that we believe we will need as we come out of the recession. Our outlook remains cautious, but overall we are optimistic.”

Other occupiers of the site adjacent to the A666 St Peter’s Way include a BMW dealership, Autoglass and waste management firm Viridor.
