Printing chemicals maker shut down

A CLITHEROE-based company which made specialist chemicals for the print industry has closed its doors, leading to 16 staff being made redundant.
International Pressroom Chemicals (UK), which traded as ABC Chemicals, was placed into administration on October 8 with Patrick Lannagan and Tracey Pye from the Manchester office of accountancy firm BDO being appointed as joint administrators.
The business, which was run by directors Jonathan Copping Richard Sures and Gareth Brooks, had initially been set up as a joint venture with US-based Allied Pressroom Chemicals more than 40 years ago.
“Unfortunately the economic climate and difficult trading conditions affected the business,” said Lannagan, a business restructuring partner at the firm.
The assets of the business have now been sold.
