‘Mr Loophole’ makes headlines again

MANCHESTER lawyer Nick Freeman, whose successful defence of a host of celebrities clients in traffic cases earned him the nickname ‘Mr Loophole’, has attracted more headlines in the national press than any other legal professional, a survey has revealed.

Research by Sweet & Maxwell, the legal information provider, reveals that Mr Freeman, who recently took legal action against another lawyer using the Mr Loophole moniker, featured 120 times in national newspaper articles betweeen July 2009 and June this year.

According to Sweet & Maxwell, Mr Freeman received over twice as much press attention as last year’s highest profile solicitor – leading family lawyer Fiona Shackleton, who was mentioned 56 times.

Cheshire-based Mr Freeman, who began his career as a prosecutor for Greater Manchester Police,  before switching to defendant work,  rose to fame when he successfully defended Sir Alex Ferguson when he was accused of driving illegally on the hard shoulder of a motorway.

He is the owner of Freeman & Co, which is based at Oxford Court in the heart of Manchester. His other celebrity clients include: Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie; comedian Jimmy Carr; David Beckham; Andrew Flintoff and Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson.
