Pochin’s wins £9.5 Hyde Park refurb

CHESHIRE building firm Pochin Construction has won a £9.5m contract to refurbish an apartment building close to Hyde Park in London.

The firm secured the job following a four-way pitch for the internal and external refurbishment of the 1960s, seven-storey block containing 74 flats.

The work, for Liberty Properties, includes some demolition and remodelling to create 36 luxury apartments as well as a penthouse.

Jon Pochin, managing director of Pochin Construction, said: “Pochin has worked with Liberty Properties on several developments across the North West, including the recently completed mixed-use scheme, HQ Chester.

“To be awarded this latest contract demonstrates Liberty’s confidence in our ability to deliver its projects and  exceed its expectations, and comes in line with Pochin Construction’s business strategy to win more contracts on a national scale.”

Pochin will start on site in January 2011 and the project is expected to take just over a year to complete. The architect is Hawkins/Brown Architects and the structural engineer is Price & Myers Consulting Engineers.
