Futureworks launches record label

MANCHESTER-based media college Futureworks has set up its own record label to promote some of the new music recorded in its facility.

The privately-owned college said that the label, Futureworks Music, would be a commercial venture aimed at giving budding artists a professional platform to promote their work while at the same time expanding their knowledge of the industry. The label will target potential media audiences requiring music for games, adverts and TV.

The label’s first release is a three-track EP called ‘Vacant Smiles’ from a solo performer entitled Bateleur. Bateleur is the brainchild of 22 year-old Stuart Williams, a student on Futureworks’ post-graduate Music Production course.

Futureworks Music is being led by Pete Jenkinson, a music industry veteran with more than 20 years’ experience.

He said: “With the creation of this label, Futureworks is providing both a first class learning tool as well as a direct vehicle for career progression.”
