New owner gets teeth into dental practice

The owner of a dental surgery in Tameside is planning to expand after taking over the practice using funding from Lloyds TSB Commercial.

Dee Patel, who spent the first five years of her career as a dentist with the NHS, bought the former RR Hartley Surgery on Stamford Square in Ashton-under-Lyne in April.

The business, which is now known as Shine Dental, has subsequently been extensively redecorated and re-equipped. The practice offers routine treatment and prevention work, as well as cosmetic procedures such as teeth whitening, veneers and crowns.

Patel now plans to increase patient numbers prior to recruiting staff to operate a second dental surgery.

“Our aim is to build on the existing patient base we have inherited from the previous practice, and as these numbers increase we will look to take on another full time dentist,” she said.

Steve Midgley, relationship manager for Lloyds TSB Commercial, said: “Dee has breathed new life into the practice and the refurbishment work she has carried out has attracted plenty of praise.”
