Appointments: Ensor takes flight to MIDAS; JMW’s double sports signing and more

MANCHESTER Airport press officer Zoe Ensor has taken flight to Greater Manchester’s inward investment agency, MIDAS.

The 38-year-old is joining MIDAS as head of marketing.

Before her stint at the airport – where she was on secondment from Exacta Marketing Communications – she worked as marketing director for a graduate recruitment company and has also had senior roles at the Edge Partnership, Powell Communications and Staniforth.

Colin Sinclair, chief executive of MIDAS, said: “It’s fantastic to have Zoe on board. Her experience and expertise will be a great asset to MIDAS as we look to further improve Manchester’s standing as a leading location choice for business.”

LAW firm JMW has boosted its sports law department with the recruitment of two sport management specialists.

Craig Sackfield joins JMW as senior player management executive from Cheshire-based International Sports Management, where he was head of cricket, working with clients including former  England captains Michael Vaughan and Andrew Flintoff.

Scott Stapleton has also joined the sports team as a player management executive and will be focusing on the management of up-and-coming footballers. Both Craig and Scott will be working closely with Ben Haworth, Head of Sport at JMW, on athlete management, transfer negotiations and contracts, sponsorships and media rights.

JMW launched its sports law team just six months ago.

PETER Vohralik has stepped down from the board of North West AIM-listed company Millbrook Scientific Instruments with immediate effect for personal reasons.

He is staying with the Blackburn company as technical director of subsidiary Millbrook Instruments where he will concentrate on product development. His existing board responsibilities will be shared between the remaining two executive directors.

LIVERPOOL accountancy firm Jackson UK LLP, which recently changed its name from Hurst (Liverpool), has appointment Paul Marshall as a specialist tax consultant.

Mr Marshall trained and qualified as a chartered accountant at Grant Thornton in Liverpool. He joins Jackson from Baker Tilly where he worked as corporate tax manager. In his new role Paul will be responsible for building the tax team as the business moves forwards.

LAW firm turner parkinson has strengthened its litigation department with the appointment of Carlyn Weale.

Carlyn joins the Manchester firm from Rowlands Solicitors where she trained as a solicitor for two years, going on to specialise in both commercial law and litigation at the firm for six months.

Prior to this, Carlyn completed the LPC at Chester College of Law before tutoring undergraduates at Liverpool University in criminal, contract and business law.
