AMS gets US clearance

WOUNDCARE specialist Advanced Medical Solutions has received clearance to launch its LiquiBand product in the US.

The Cheshire-based firm said it has received approval from the US Food and Drug Administration and now hopes to benefit from the $200m American market for topical tissue adhesives.

LiquiBand is used to help heal laparoscopic incisions and trauma-induced lacerations, and been sold in Europe for many years where it is widely used in accident and emergency departments.

Dr Don Evans, chief executive of  Advanced Medical Solutions, said: “I am delighted that we have received this initial clearance on the back of which we will be finalising commercial arrangements for the introduction of our tissue adhesive technology to this key strategic market during 2009 via marketing and distribution partners.”
