Appointments: Three new partners join Ernst & Young and more…

ERNST & Young has appointed three new partners in its Manchester office, boosting its audit and assurance teams.

It has lured audit partners Gary Harding and Alastair Nuttall from Grant Thornton  in Manchester.

Mr Harding, 41,  was head of audit and a former member of GT’s UK assurance leadership panel. He has been with the firm for nine years and is an experienced adviser to the retail, leisure and manufacturing sectors.

Alastair Nuttall, 39, became a partner at GT in 2002. Since then he has focused on delivering audit services to mid–cap, AIM and private equity backed companies, particularly in the construction, leisure and professional sports sectors.

They are joined by Stephen Church, 38, from Deloitte, who has over 14 years of experience of implementing IT and software systems to improve business performance, efficiency and reduce costs.

Manchester Senior Partner, Simon Allport said: “We have made nine new partner appointments in the last 20 months. The latest three are well-know in the market, well networked and have a great track record of winning work. They are key to our local growth plans.”

PRIVATE bank Brown Shipley has appointed Robert Kitchen to the board of directors and management committee.

Mr Kitchen, 42, was appointed head of commercial operations in July last year and is currently responsible for investment management services and their interaction with all other parts of the business.

He has 10 years front office experience in a credit environment dealing with both corporate and private clients and 10 years risk management experience.

AIM-listed Liverpool company Proventec, which provides specialist steam cleaning and coatings technologies, said today that non-executive director Glyn Hirsch had resigned due to other business commitments.

Chief executive David Chestnutt sid a search for a new non-executive was under way, adding: “We are extremely grateful to Glyn for his contributions to the company since his appointment in 2001 and we wish him all the best for the future.”

MANCHESTER based lending business Jerrold Holdings has announced the appointment of Kenneth Russell as a consultant.

Mr Russell recently retired from his post as a director within Bank of Scotland’s corporate division, where he spent 36 years.

Sean Mahon, chairman of Jerrold Holdings, said: “We are delighted Ken has decided to join us and believe that Jerrold Holdings will benefit immensely from his extensive commercial and banking experience.”
