Bowdon doubles up on Merseyside

AN award winning entrepreneur has completed a second major swoop on Merseyside in the last month.
Saul Loggenberg, who won several national awards for small business growth including a Shell LiveWIRE Champion of Champions honour, now runs Bowdon Investments with business partner Jim Shannon.
Last month Bowdon bought Knowsley-based Metalbuild for £1.9m, and has now swooped to buy Wirral-based AMF Engineering out of administration. The £3m-turnover company employs 35 people and operates in the nuclear sector.
The pair hope to create a £100m turnover business focused on the North West manufacturing sector and already own businesses involved in packaging and making cosmetics.
Mr Loggenberg, 33, founded his first business, Quantum Technologies, which sold printer cartridges, CDs and DVDs in his early 20s. He won the Shell LiveWIRE award in 2000.
Business partner Jim Shannon, who he met at Bowdon Rugby club, is a former Littlewoods director and executive with cosmetics company Disperse Technologies.
Mr Loggenberg said told TheBusinessDesk: “We are focusing on three or four sectors – engineering, packaging, cosmetics and domiciliary care, and the aim is to build up a decent-sized group over the next three or four years.
“I met Jim at Bowdon where I was coaching his son, he was approaching retirement and it’s great to have a wise head on board.”
Bowdon Investments was advised by Nexus Solicitors and TMG Corporate Finance.
