Coach firm’s £2m green fleet

A FAMILY-owned coach firm is motoring ahead after investing £2m in a new green fleet.

Chadderton-based Swans Travel has bought 15 Mercedes Benz Tourismo coaches which are fitted with engines that are designed reduce emissions and improve fuel efficiency. 

Established in 1978 and based on Broadway Business Park, Swans has a fleet of 30 coaches and clients include schools, colleges, universities, sports clubs and corporate customers across the North West. 

Managing director Kieran Swindells said: “We aim to provide a quality and economical transport solution for our customers and to achieve this it is essential that we continually invest in our fleet. 

“The new additions to the fleet reflect the company’s quality image and our strategy is to always have the most modern vehicles whilst considering our impact on the environment.”  

Funding for purchase was provided by Lombard, the asset finance arm of The Royal Bank of Scotland.

Paul Warren, relationship manager at Lombard, said: “Swans forward looking approach is one of the reasons why they have been successful for over 30 years.  The directors’ are committed to improving the services they offer and we are pleased to be able to help them upgrade their fleet.”
