‘Chester’s festive markets worth £7m’

CHRISTMAS attractions in Chester are expected to bring an extra £7m into the city’s economy.

Tourism chiefs have spent £400,000 on features such as a Victorian village and market, an open-air ice rink and a big wheel.

They expect 100,000 visitors between November 26 and January 3.

Chris Brown, chief executive of Visit Chester and Cheshire, said: “It offers something for everyone in a magical and inspiring location. We know it will give a major boost to both the visitor and city economies in the run up to Christmas.”

It is being officially opened on Friday, November 26, by former Olympic Gold medal skater Robin Cousins.

The funding was provided by Cheshire West and Chester Council and the Chester Renaissance programme.
