In Brief: 35 CIS jobs to go; Salford Quays curries favour
MORE than 30 jobs are set to be lost as a result of a modernisiation process at Co-operative Financial Services' insurance arm.

MORE than 30 jobs are set to be lost as a result of a modernisiation process at Co-operative Financial Services’ insurance arm.

A team of 35 home-based motor engineers have entered consultation over possible redundancy.

A spokesman for the Manchester-based CFS said: “IN the last two years we have invested in new digital technology to speed up the motor claims process for our customers and as a result the field-based team is no longer required.

“We have identified 10 other roles we believe would be suitable and will be working hard with those affected to minimise compulsory redundancies.”

RESTAURATEUR Mumtaz Khan has revealed plans to open a restaurant in  Greater Manchester following a £3.3m investment in his family business’s second Yorkshire venue in Leeds.

Mumtaz Food Industries, which is run by Mr Khan and his brothers Doctor Akbar and Rab Nawaz, had decided to further expand following the ongoing success of its first restaurant in Bradford.

The company has earmaked a site at Salford Quays for its third Kashmiri food outlet and Mr Khan said he expected it to open within the next six months.
