City aims to boost links with The City

THE Manchester business community is stepping-up its bid to boost economic links with the City of London.

The new Lord Mayor of the City of London, Alderman Michael Bear, will address members of pro.manchester, the membership organisation for the financial and professional services sector, next Tuesday.

In his speech  the Lord Mayor will focus on the UK and its offering overseas and will discuss how Manchester can support this.

Pro.manchester chief executive John Ashcroft said: “As the international ambassador for the financial and professional services community, the Lord Mayor has a pivotal role to play as we continue towards recovery.

“Manchester is a critically important part of the UK financial and professional services sector and Alderman Michael Bear visiting so early into his tenure is testament to our standing and expertise in these specific areas.

“Our business leaders compete on an international scale and our reputation will continue to attract interest and investment, reinforcing our position as a leading centre for financial and professional services outside of London.”

Alderman Michael Bear has spent the past 36 years working in international construction.
