Matt Brook

Matt Brook is an RIBA award-winning architect and one of the region’s foremost experts in design quality. As Design Director at Corstorphine + Wright, and Chair of Places Matter, he embeds a rigorous design approach and narrative in projects and brings innovation which add value – both to clients and communities.

Matt has a long-standing relationship with RIBA, including chairing RIBA North West and serving on RIBA’s National Council. Whilst at a previous practice, Matt designed and secured planning consent for Mann Island in Liverpool; a site Historic England considered to be the most important undeveloped site in Western Europe. He subsequently went on to lead the delivery of Mann Island, which received an RIBA Award in 2015 for design innovation and excellence. The success of Mann Island culminated in the building been selected to house the Royal Institute of British Architects new national gallery, RIBA North, which Matt also design and delivered and was opened in 2017.

Matt has also designed many other high profile and award-winning schemes in the North West across a wide variety of sectors including Islington Wharf in Manchester and the widely acclaimed landmark food store for Waitrose in Chester.
