Cornish holiday company lands national travel award

An independent holiday home company based in Cornwall has earned recognition at the annual British Travel Awards, securing its fifth consecutive accolade.

Cornish Gems, managing a portfolio of 180 self-catered properties, clinched the bronze award in the ‘Best Company for UK Holiday Home Rentals’ category.

The trophy was presented to Cornish Gems at the awards ceremony in London at Battersea Evolution on November 28, 2023.

As a representative of Cornwall on a national level, the company was acknowledged for its excellence in the travel industry, with the British Travel Awards being considered the leading consumer poll for leisure travel globally.

Cornish Gems founder, Nadia Macer-Wright, said: “We’re so proud to be awarded our fifth consecutive British Travel Award and represent Cornish tourism nationally. Following an exciting year of development, from a change of ownership to submitting our B Corp application, it’s hugely rewarding to see our efforts recognised as we continue to curate memorable holiday experiences, operating as a force for good within the UK travel sector.

“Thank you to everyone who voted for us and especially our wonderful team who consistently deliver first-class service – without which we wouldn’t be winning this accolade.”

Director of events and partnerships, Lorraine Barnes Burton, said: “A record has been set in the fifteen-year history of the British Travel Awards, both in the number of consumers voting and the votes cast. The 2023 British Travel Awards is the largest travel industry awards programme and this year the winners were decided by more than one and a half million votes. When consumers see the British Travel Awards winner logos on brochures, websites, and social media posts they can be sure they are travelling with tried and tested travel companies – as voted for by the all-important travelling public.”
