Conservatives announce candidate for crucial by-election

The Conservatives have announced their candidate for the upcoming by-election in Kingswood.
The Tories have confirmed Sam Bromiley has been selected to stand for the party in the election which takes place on February 15th.
The election was triggered when former Government minister Christ Skidmore announced his resignation. Skidmore resigned in protest at Rishi Sunak’s green energy policies.
Mr Bromiley will be facing ex-Lewisham Mayor Damien Egan on the ballot who is standing for the Labour Party.
The Conservative Party has held the Kingswood seat since 2010, and had a majority of 11,220 in the 2019 general election. Mr Skidmore has warned that the by-election could be the toughest faced by Rishi Sunak so far.
Mr Bromiley grew up and has lived in Kingswood his whole life.
The constituency is set to be abolished at the next general election following a boundary review.
