Young woman swaps caring carer to become funeral director
A woman from South Gloucestershire has traded in her life as a carer to become a funeral director at a Westbury-on-Trym business.
Georgia Williams, 26, has spent her career caring for the elderly at a private care home but has decided to follow her ambition of becoming a funeral director, after spending time working with undertakers as part of her carer role.
Having now joined the team at MW Funeral Directors Georgia says she feels a huge sense of fulfilment.
“Being able to help take the pressure, stress and fear out of making funeral arrangements for a family during a very difficult time is extremely rewarding”, said Georgia.
“Guiding them through the process and making sure they are happy and feel confident in their decisions has been so fulfilling.
“I’ve wanted to do this for a few years now, my role included working with undertakers when residents sadly passed away and I feel it’s a natural progression having worked in end-of-life care for many years.
“I came across MW Funeral Directors and the sister business Memorial Woodlands while attending a service with my family and I was very impressed with their ethos and customer-centred approach. So when this job role came up I jumped at the chance to follow my dreams with such a reputable and well-established business.”
MW Funeral Directors is an independent, family-run funeral directors. Dedicated to providing respectful, cost-effective and value for money funeral services, the company operates across Bristol, South Gloucestershire and further afield.
“It is a bit of a rarity to see a young woman in a funeral directing role and I understand that not everyone would be cut out for the industry but caring for people has always been in my blood and nothing has changed with this new role. I care for the families who walk through our doors and in turn I care for their loved ones who have departed.”
MW Funeral Directors Terry Hayward said: “We’re delighted to have Georgia on board, she has already shown enormous compassion for clients as well as excellent organisation skills. I’m sure she’s going to fit into the team wonderfully.”
