Discount retailer set to open multiple stores before Christmas

Poundland is set to expand its presence in Somerset and Wiltshire before Christmas, with upcoming stores in Swindon, Wells, and Midsomer Norton.

The recent openings in Portishead, Gloucester, and Crewkerne this week have facilitated job opportunities for former Wilko staff following the retailer’s collapse.

Every new Poundland store, whether in former Wilko units or other locations, will showcase Pepco family clothing, distributed to 560 existing Poundland stores in the UK and Ireland.

In September, Pepco Group, Poundland’s owner in the UK, revealed plans to rebrand Wilko stores under the Poundland name.

This latest news coincides with Wilko’s chair, Lisa Wilkinson, who expressed her ‘devastation’ over the company’s failure in front of MPs on Tuesday, November 28th.
