Wesleyan appoints former lastminute.com CEO to board

Wesleyan, the Birmingham-based specialist financial services mutual for doctors, dentists, lawyers and teachers, has welcomed Ian McCaig to its board of directors.

McCaig has worked across a number of sectors, most recently as CEO of First Utility, one of the first challenger entrants to the UK energy market. He led the company through a period of successful transformation and significant growth.

Prior to that he was CEO of lastminute.com, the online travel and leisure business.

Wesleyan chair Nathan Moss said: “Ian brings with him a fantastic skill set and I’m confident he’ll make a real difference at Wesleyan as we put in place our strategy to grow and strengthen our business. His experience of overseeing large scale change and growth makes him well-placed to contribute to and challenge our strategic plans.

“Ian’s understanding of how new technology can be used to create a great customer experience and smarter ways of working is really relevant as we develop a distribution strategy for the future.”

McCaig added: “Wesleyan has a great business model and a real passion to deliver the best financial services experience for its professional customers. There is so much potential to develop the business to benefit members and customers and I’m excited to be part of an organisation with such ambitious plans and a clear customer-focused approach.”

McCaig’s appointment is subject to regulatory approval.
