A Birmingham firm that specialises in the construction of bridges and tunnels has invested in a new premises, with the help of a loan from Lloyds Bank.

JOS Structures, which provides reinforced concrete for large construction projects, has bought a new 10,000 sq ft building in Tyseley. Five times larger than its previous site, it offers more space for storage, as well as a three-storey office building and an acre of surrounding land.

The move has already helped to create three jobs, and the business says it hopes to take on more staff as it continues to grow. It is also exploring the possibility of creating a new training facility at the site.

The bigger site will enable JOS Structures to increase the amount of work it can do on site and grow its storage capacity as it takes on larger and more complex projects. This includes its current work building a 180 metre rail tunnel in Northamptonshire, and constructing a new bridge over the M6 near Walsall to alleviate congestion at the UK’s third-busiest junction.

Anita O’Sullivan, director at JOS Structures, said: “We’ve got ambitions to grow our business over the next few years and moving to a new site was essential to this. It will not only give us more capacity to take on bigger jobs but also reduce costs and waste by increasing the amount of product we can order in bulk and store on site.

“While we have continued to grow over the past couple of years, we have also faced challenges. The Lloyds Bank team has done everything they could to support us and were instrumental in getting this over the line.”

James Faithfull, relationship manager at Lloyds Bank, said: “This is a really significant move for the business and will give them the perfect springboard for further growth. It already has a fantastic reputation and they now have the opportunity to build on this further.

“We will continue to support the business’ ambitions and look forward to remaining by their side as they move forward into this exciting new chapter of their journey.”
