People: Nasmyth Group; Opus Land; Entec Si

Coventry-based aerospace company Nasmyth Group has appointed Tony Upton as its new chief executive officer.

He has held several senior executive roles within the aerospace and defence industry, and most recently was the CEO of Gardner Aerospace, having previously been CFO since 2018.

Prior to this he held financial and operational roles at Eaton, UTC Aerospace Systems and Goodrich.

Opus Land has recruited Ben Hooton to the role of development director to help grow the firm’s pipeline.

Hooton will be responsible for identifying and securing new development and joint venture opportunities, where land can either be purchased unconditionally or be the subject of a promotion agreement.

He will be looking to identify both previously developed sites that are suitable for mixed use development, or greenfield land appropriate for larger commercial and/or residential schemes, with a focus on providing developments with enhanced ESG credentials.

Prior to joining Opus, Hooton was at M7 where he helped to deliver the redevelopment of The Green in Solihull, a major 50-acre brownfield redevelopment scheme.

Following its recent drive for new talent, Birmingham-based business change consultancy Entec Si has welcomed Nadine Kubalek to its growing team.

She joins as a consultant to bring knowledge of emerging markets in areas such as artificial intelligence and virtual reality to the team. She will be responsible for overseeing a range of business and data analysis activities, as well as directing largescale transformation projects.
