Last chance to sign up for the AJ Bell Great Birmingham Run

The countdown to this year’s AJ Bell Great Birmingham Run is on, and time is running out if you want to be part of the running party in Birmingham this Sunday.

Places in the Junior and Mini runs have now sold out, but you can still be among the 12,000 who have signed up for the half marathon and 10k events until 10am on Friday, 5 May.

The information point is located in Centenary Square and open from:
Saturday 6 May: 10am to 4pm
Sunday 7 May: from 07.30am

Starting on Broad Street at Centenary Square, runners for both the 10k and half marathon distances will head for the city’s world-famous Jewellery Quarter, passing the Chamberlain Clock at Warstone Lane and Vyse Street, beautiful St Paul’s Square and a city-centre route that features the Mailbox, Grand Central at New Street station, St Martin’s Church, Southside and Digbeth.

Half-marathon participants will follow the same iconic landmarks before heading out of the city centre along Pershore Road, reaching Selly Park at eight miles and a return route that takes in glorious Cannon Hill Park and Edgbaston Stadium.

Both distances enjoy a grandstand finish at the Smithfield site near Bullring; home to Commonwealth Games beach volleyball and basketball.

Paul Foster, chief executive at the Great Run Company, said: “There are a limited number of places left for our new-look 10k and half marathon and I’d urge anybody thinking of taking part to sign up immediately.

“The AJ Bell Great Birmingham Run is one of the Midlands’ biggest running events and it gives you the chance to work towards a personal goal as well as the opportunity to support a charity close to your heart, while taking in the sights of brilliant Birmingham.”
