Jobs rescued as telecom group sold out of administration

COM Group has been sold to COM Group Telecom in a rescue deal after entering administration last month.

Stratford-upon-Avon-based COM Group, which specialises in telecom surveying and auditing, experienced a major downturn in survey and design work following the impact of COVID-19, in addition to challenging market conditions throughout 2023.

Brett Barton, director of BLB Advisory, was then appointed as the administrator on March 14 and the business sale was completed shortly afterwards.

A former COM Group employee, Jim Hawksworth purchased the business and its assets after it went into administration.

COM Group Telecom was then set up to carry the business forward as a new entity, saving 21 employees from redundancy.

Jim Hawksworth, director of COM Group Telecom Limited, said: “I am thrilled to have successfully acquired COM Group. All jobs have been protected, with several long-standing employees now becoming shareholders. I am confident that we have the perfect recipe to be the number one mobile telecoms survey company in the industry through the continued delivery of excellent service to all our customers.”

Brett Barton, director of BLB Advisory Limited, commented: “I am delighted that we have been able to save the jobs of all 21 employees and that the business has been protected by a sale to a third party. I would like to thank The Wilkes Partnership LLP and Hilco for their assistance in securing a great outcome for the business.”
