Former showroom of collapsed caravan retailer put up for sale

The site of the former Broad Lane Leisure caravan business has been put on the market for offers above £1.7m.

TheBusinessDesk.com revealed that the Midlands family-run business specialising in caravans, motorhomes and campervans crashed into administration last month, after more than 50 years of trading.

34 jobs were lost at the Alcester-based business, with a small number of staff retained to assist administrators at FRP Advisory.

The business faced challenging trading conditions, primarily due to a demand reduction which resulted in cash flow difficulties.

Its former caravan showroom is now being marketed by Watling Real Estate. The 1.85-acre site includes a detached vacant freehold warehouse of 16,109 sq. ft.

Toby O’Sullivan, director of Watling Real Estate, said: “This is a prominent strategic roadside location on the key arterial A435 Birmingham Road.

“It has a large yard and a low site cover of approximately 15%, and provides excellent asset management potential including extension and redevelopment, subject to planning.”

A planning application was submitted in June 2020 by Aldi Stores for the erection of a food store with new access to the Birmingham Road. The planning application was ultimately withdrawn in 2022.
