Weightmans celebrates hike in turnover

LAW firm Weightmans, which has an operation in Birmingham, has revealed a 32.9% surge in annual turnover to £77.1m.
The firm, which gobbled up smaller practice Mace & Jones last year, did not disclose profit levels, but managing partner Patrick Gaul said the financial performance had been “respectable”.
As well as the Mace & Jones deal Weightmans took on teams from Vizards Wyeth in the South East.
Mr Gaul described the last year as a “landmark” for the firm, which had seen much integration of new people, clients and systems.
“A lot of the work we have done this year will stand us in good stead for many years to come. We wanted to create one firm, we are not quite there yet but we have made a huge amount of progress,” he said.
“All in all I am very encouraged by both the respectable financial result and the response from the market and the profession. It has been a good year for Weightmans.”
The enlarged firm is in the midst of moving its Liverpool head office. As well as Liverpool and Birmingham, the firm has offices in Manchester, London, Leicester, Knutsford and Dartford.
