Seven local Clinton Cards shops to close this week

CLINTON Cards administrator Zolfo Cooper has announced that the remaining 122 up for sale stores will close on Thursday.

The shops, which include seven in the West Midlands, were not included in the recent sale of Clinton Cards to Lakeshore Lending Limited.

Peter Saville, Simon Freakley and Anne O’Keefe at Zolfo Cooper were appointed joint administrators over Clinton Cards Plc and its subsidiaries, including Birthdays Retail Limited on May 9.

On June 7, it was announced that the brands and assets of Clinton Cards, including 397 stores, had been purchased by (Lakeshore), a subsidiary of American Greetings Corporation.

Some 330 stores were not included in the sale to and remained under the control of the administrators. Of these stores, 43 were closed on June 8.

The local stores set to close on Thursday include two in Birmingham – The Pallasades and Erdington. The others closing are in Ross on Wye, Shirley, Evesham, West Bromwich and Kidderminster.
