General appointments: The International Centre, Telford; CIPP; UK Mail

International expansion for conference venue

THE International Centre, Telford, has taken on three new event managers to handle an increase in business.

Hannah Williams has joined after working as a development officer at Harper Adams University College.

She has also worked for the Royal Agricultural Society as a sales and sponsorship manager.

The second new face is Hollie Jones who previously worked with the Olympic and Paralympic archers at Archery GB, based at Lilleshall National Sports Centre.

Laura Jones is the third appointment – she spent three years at ACC Liverpool as part of the sales team securing events, promoting the venue and managing events.

She also worked at The Post House in Stafford as sales and marketing manager.

Tom Gray, chief executive of the Southwater Event Group which owns the venue, said: “All three new managers have strong backgrounds in the events industry and they all bring great skills that will complement the strengths of our existing team.”

West Midlands Entrepreneur of the Year joins the CIPP

THE Solihull-based Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP) has appointed Ravinder Deol as a project assistant.

He will be working directly with the chief executive Lindsay Melvi, on a number of projects, including the CIPP schools’ initiative of educating 16 and 17-year olds in understanding their payslip, as well as helping to establish a comprehensive international online payroll systems library.

The 18-year old recently gradated from the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy where he completed the diploma in enterprise and entrepreneurship and was awarded West Midlands Entrepreneur of the Year and was a finalist for the National Entrepreneur of the Year.

He was also given the title of national ambassador for the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy.

On top of this, he currently runs his own business, Indian Snack Box, which he launched earlier in the year.

UK Mail announces two new directors

BIRMINGHAM-based parcels and logistics company UK Mail has brought in two management employees at director level.

Sarah Maddox has been appointed the role of HR director, bringing with her 30 years’ experience whilst Simon Baxter has been appointed customer strategy director with seven years’ experience in a similar role.

Maddox joins UK Mail from National Express. She will be responsible for implementing methods of attracting and retaining people to the business.

Baxter previously worked for Anglian Water as head of developer services. He will be responsible for continually improving customer satisfaction by working smarter and maximising the benefits to be gained from new telephony and CRM systems in place.
