Castings firm CMA Moldform looks to wargamers for a boost

BIRMINGHAM-based castings firm CMA Moldform has been appointed to produce a new range of products for wargaming and miniatures specialist Hawk Wargames.

CMA, best known for creating the stunning helmet used in the Ridley Scott science fiction film Prometheus – featured on posters for the recent Birmingham Made Me expo, has been working with Hawk for the past couple of years.

Hawk’s latest venture is the 10mm scale science-fiction battle game, Dropzone Commander. Its aim is to provide a whole range of innovative and high quality wargames in multiple scales, and multiple game universes.

CMA has produced several high quality castings, all created from sculpted master models created by David J Lewis, founder of Hawk Wargames.

CMA, based at Spitfire Park, has invested significantly in new casting equipment, additional working space and skilled staff in order to meet the increasing demand for the miniatures.

CMA began 25 years ago by producing fine scale models of cars, ships, trains, planes, figures and many more. These are still a large part of the business today.

The company also has a very active art department, catering for specialist public and private design work including sculptures and installations.

It will be hoping for a boost from Hawk after the firm’s participation in GenCon Indianapolis 2013, The American gaming show is the place where games firms exhibit their latest products.
