Metronet targets Midlands growth via CBS partnership

METRONET UK, the hybrid IT networks provider backed by private equity firm LDC, is targeting further growth in the West Midlands.

The Manchester-based company, which uses wired and wireless technology to deliver Internet speeds which it says are ten times quicker than traditional fibre and copper-based services, believes a new partnership with Birmingham’s Computerworld Business Solutions (CBS) will boost client numbers.

CBS has agreed to use Metronet – which already has more than 50 customers in the West Midlands – as a preferred supplier to its customers.

CBS provides IT support and solutions to businesses in and around the Midlands, specialising in cost reduction through the implementation of technology and outsourced support service agreements.

The link-up follows CBS using Metronet for for first time when installing connectivity for its customer ALS UK. Having ordered fibre, they experienced a number of technical issues that an alternative solution had to be found, which Metronet provided.

Julian Shaw, director of CBS, said: “This partnership with Metronet (UK) means our customers will never have to worry about way leave or long lead times for fibre.”

Andy Tatlock, channel manager at Metronet (UK), said: “CBS is a great company that is well regarded by its customers in Birmingham and our partnership with them will help us to grow our superfast network in the West Midlands even further.”
