Birmingham lawyer achieves chart success with family group

A lawyer and his family from Birmingham has achieved UK chart success after releasing a charity single for Father’s Day.

Family four-piece The Neales made it to the final of Britain’s Got Talent in 2015 and have since teamed up with Tesco to raise money for British Heart Foundation and Diabetes UK.

The self-penned single, titled “I’ll Be There”, appeared at number two in the Official Trending Chart this week, as well as being at number 22 in the Top 40 Singles Chart.

The Official Chart shows week-on-week chart growth and reflects audio track sales as well as streams on services like Spotify and Deezer.

The weekly chart update closes on Thursday nights and the biggest hits of the week are announced on a Friday.

The Neales are made up of 60-year-old Laurie Neale, who lives in Solihull, and his three sons, James, 30, Dan, 27 and Phil, 26.

The Neales entered BGT last year after Laurie suffered a heart attack a decade ago.

The oldest son, James, is a lawyer at DWF in Birmingham city centre. His brother Dan works at Deutschebank in the city too, and their other brother lives in Hertfordshire as a brand manager for Tesco.

Speaking to TheNeales 2BusinessDesk.com, James expressed how excited the family were about their chart success. He said: “It really has been incredible to see how much we have been backed by the British public so far, which, in turn, raises a lot of money for two great charities in the British Heart Foundation and Diabetes UK, with all proceeds from this debut single going to them.”

The Neales are an unsigned act, but they have more in the pipeline thanks to the success of their debut single. James said: “We have a great second single that we would love to get out there as soon as possible.”
“We are also writing more music together and hope to put together an album in the near future. Whether we do that independently or as a signed act. The future is looking really exciting for us right now!”

The family group still have a chance of reaching the number 1 spot, and James is staying positive about the single. He said: “We would love to make it to number one. At the moment there are so many great artists out there with some brilliant songs, so the competition is really stiff.”

“Drake has been number1 for 10 weeks in a row now with ‘One Dance’, so how good would it be if we, as a massive underdog, were to end Drake’s reign at the top of the charts and raise even more money for charity?”
