MIPIM the place to realise global city aspirations

WORLDWIDE property conference MIPIM could this year provide the platform to enhance Birmingham’s bid to become a global city.

The city’s new inward investment agency Business Birmingham is leading a delegation of private sector partners, along with the city council, to southern France next month for the 2011 event.

Among those attending will be consultancy Rider Levett Bucknall, whose chief executive Lance Taylor, said: “Birmingham has aspirations to be a global city and this is a fantastic goal to work towards.

“Exhibiting at MIPIM shows that we are serious about the challenge we face and that we are most definitely open for business.

“Public and private sectors of Birmingham have joined forces to use their substantial strength, energy and expertise to showcase the spirit of Birmingham to the rest of the world.”

Also supporting Birmingham’s presence in Cannes is Edgbaston-based planning consultancy Brooke Smith Planning.

Founder and director Louise Brooke-Smith added: “Birmingham is a city of investment that the international community is recognising as a place to do real business and achieve real success.

“We have worked in the city for over 20 years and have seen the fantastic changes that have taken Birmingham forward.”

Also supporting the delegation are Argent, Carillion, Keepmoat, Nikal,
Birmingham Unlimited partnership of Aedas RLB, Savills, URS and CSJ Brooke Smith, Birmingham Science Park Aston, Bruntwood, Calthorpe Group, Centro, Glenn Howells Architects, Jaguar Landrover, McLaren Construction, Moorfield Hines and Willmott Dixon Construction.
