RSC chief joins LEP board

COVENTRY and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership has appointed two new directors to its board.

Vikki Heywood has been executive director of the Royal Shakespeare Company, in Stratford-upon-Avon, since 2003 and is a board member of the Society of London Theatre, University of Warwick, the Cultural Leadership Programme Advisory Board and The London 2012 Cultural Olympiad.

She is also a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

Amrik Bhabra runs Coventry-based IT firm and business consultancy Adecs where he has worked for 18 years.

He is vice-president of the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce, chairman of the chamber’s Coventry branch and vice-chairman of the Warwick Business Growth Network.

The LEP board now has seven directors from the private sector and five from the public sector as well as a representative each from Coventry University and the University of Warwick.

LEP chairman Denys Shortt said: “Vikki heads up what is a huge worldwide brand which is worth in excess of £60m to our economy. She has great experience and is very well connected on a national level.

“Amrik’s company is a leading local IT firm and again, through his active role at the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce, is very well connected. Vikki and Amrik are very valuable additions.”
