GKN recruits new non-executive director from BP

REDDITICH based engineering group GKN has recruited a major executive from BP to be one of its non-executive directors.
Tufan Erginbilgic’s appointment as an independent non-executive director takes effect from May 9 and is seen as significant for GKN’s work in the energy sector.
A Turkish/British national, Mr Erginbilgic, aged 51, is currently chief operating officer for the Refining and Marketing division of BP with specific responsibility for the global lubricants, aviation and LPG businesses as well as all refining and fuels operations outside of the US.
Mr Erginbilgic joined BP in 1997 and has held a number of senior marketing and operational roles, including chief of staff to the group chief executive. His early career was spent at Mobil Oil. He has a bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Istanbul Technical University, an MBA from Bosphorous University, Istanbul and an MA in Economics from Ohio State University.
Roy Brown, chairman of GKN, said: “I am delighted to welcome Tufan to the board. His experience of the global energy industry will bring a relevant but distinctive perspective to the board.”
On appointment, Mr Erginbilgic will become a member of the company’s Audit, Remuneration and Nominations Committees.
