Firms invited to green manufacturing workshops

MANUFACTURERS in the West Midlands have been invited to take part in a series of Green Manufacturing workshops to improve their knowledge of the sector.

The workshops, which take place later this month, have been organised by Manufacturing Advisory Service – West Midlands.

Rachel Eade, head of auto for MAS-WM, said that on average energy charges were rising by 16% and firms needed to know what the best contract was for them in order to minimise costs.

She said companies also had an obligation to meet increased environmental requirements and comply with the latest legislation.

The workshops will also explain to businesses about the Climate Levy Agreement and how firms can receive a rebate.

The first workshops take place at the National Metal Forming Centre in West Bromwich on July 12. It is targeted at firms involved in Heat Treatment and Forging and Surface Engineering.

The second takes place on July 14 at Industry Forum, Birmingham Business Park in Solihull. It is aimed at helping Rubber and Plastic suppliers

All the events are open to manufacturing companies from any discipline, but each will have a theme and a presentation from a company representing a high energy user who has achieved significant savings in spend and usage.
