Asset sale secures future for 180-year-old pottery firm

Liquidators of a Stoke-on-Trent pottery firm have secured the sale of its plant and machinery to a former customer, TG Green & Co.

Royal Stafford had appointed liquidators at Moore Recovery last month after 180 years of operations, causing the loss of 70 jobs. The china, tableware and pottery manufacturer has one of the oldest pottery factories in Burslem, based in the Royal Overhouse Manufactory.

The sale to TG Green & Co comes after John Pye was appointed to sell 350,000 pieces of tableware, as well as plant and machinery.

The deal has secured employment for a number of former Royal Stafford workers and will, in the short term, provide ongoing occupancy of the former trading site in Burslem.

TG Green & Co will be using the site to manufacture their Cornishware products, which were previously produced by RST.

Bowcock Cuerden has dealt with the legal completion documents.

Liquidators have retained the finished stock which is currently for sale through John Pye.
