In 2002, he joined Bank of Scotland where he oversaw the opening of the Coventry city centre branch before being promoted to area director where he led various teams across the Midlands. Mr Jones will now be responsible for a team of seven business partners at the bank in Birmingham. He said: “Having all our experts in one location is distinctive in the market place in terms of banking facilities for SMEs and owners and ensures our customers can speak to everyone they need for all areas of their business in one meeting.”

Corporate deputy head appointed at HSBC

HSBC has appointed Dan Wright as deputy head of corporate banking in the Midlands. Mr Wright joins Ian Stitt as a second deputy head of corporate banking, reporting to Maurice Heath. Barclays Business opts for McCall

Greg McCall has been appointed international and trade manager for Barclays Business in the Midlands. Mr McCall, who has 11 years’ experience within the SME arena, joins manager John Sharpe and will be responsible for helping Midlands businesses consider expanding into international markets. He said: “I am delighted to be moving into this role which provides me with an opportunity to work with our network of business managers and their customers to discuss the possibilities of expanding their business into international markets. In this difficult economic climate, many businesses don’t know if they should be expanding, contracting or sitting tight and often need a sounding board to discuss their options. But one thing for certain is that SMEs are crucial to the UK economy, and at Barclays Business we are working hard to support our customer’s aspirations and business growth.”
