Green entrepreneurs urged to share low carbon knowledge

BUSINESSES pioneering eco-technology and the low carbon agenda have been urged to take part in a new contest aimed at finding the region’s most sustainable organisations.

‘West Midlands Green Leaders’ is being promoted by Sustainability West Midlands and is targeted at policy makers and green entrepreneurs.

The successful businesses will be invited to share their knowledge and experiences with others. The knowledge will be useful to Government departments and Local Enterprise Partnerships looking to develop future low carbon strategies.

Simon Slater, of Sustainability West Midlands, said: “Green Leaders is open to individuals from different sectors and stages of their careers with an emphasis on being able to demonstrate ‘green’ impact with additional social or economic benefit above their everyday role.

“Low carbon is at the top of both the business and Government agendas and we are looking to ensure our region is at the forefront of best practice.

“The competition is a great way of promoting excellence in the West Midlands and will play an important role in developing the next generation of professionals and promoting the need for best practice and innovation.”

Winners will be announced at the organisation’s annual conference and the closing date for entries is September 12.

This year the competition is being supported by the Prince’s May Day Network, Midlands Environmental Business Club, West Midlands Councils and the Low Carbon Communities Network.
