Traffic Alert: Long delays on M6 at Birmingham following accident

Drivers using the M6 northbound on the approach to Birmingham are being warned of long delays following a collision.

Two lanes are blocked on the section between Junctions 4 (Coventry) and 6 (A38/Birmingham city centre).

Highways England is reporting delays of around 40 minutes against normal journey times and the situation is not expected to clear until later in the afternoon.

The delays are affecting routes between Junction 5 (Castle Bromwich) plus the A38 and Junction 4a, the connection with the M42.
