French giant expands UK home care presence with major acquisition

Prestige Nursing + Care

A UK nursing and care business has been acquired by a French group looking to expand its presence in the home care sector.

Prestige Nursing + Care has 44 operations around the UK, with a strong presence in the Midlands.

It has been acquired by Sodexo in an undisclosed deal.

Prestige Nursing + Care delivers a personalised home care service to people of retirement age through a private-pay model.

It has operations in Derby, Leicester, Northampton, Nottingham, Shrewsbury, Sleaford and Stoke-on-Trent.

Outside of the Midlands, it has operations in the North West in Blackburn, Blackpool, Liverpool and Middleton, and Leeds, Wakefield and York in Yorkshire.

With demand for social care services rising in the UK, Sodexo will capitalise on this growing market, while bringing innovation and development potential to Prestige Nursing + Care.

The acquisition will significantly expand the French group’s position in the UK private home care market.

Following the acquisition, the current management team of Prestige Nursing + Care, led by managing director Jonathan Bruce, will continue to manage the business.

Sarosh Mistry, CEO, Sodexo Global Home Care, said: “Prestige Nursing + Care combines a long history of home care provision with a progressive and forward-thinking approach. We are very impressed with the professionalism and expertise of the Prestige Nursing + Care senior leadership and the way they have embraced the private-pay model. We look forward to working together to grow this business.”

Mr Bruce added: “This agreement is a major milestone in our efforts to expand the support we provide to help our clients live independently in comfort and security at home. We are excited by the prospect of strengthening our in-home care services to support our continued growth and innovation.”

Founded in 1966 by Pierre Bellon, Sodexo is the 19th largest employer in the world. At the end of August 2016 it had revenues of more than €20bn and 425,000 employees across 80 countries.
