Traffic Alert: Accident and vehicle fire causing disruption on M5

The vehicle fire between Junctions 4 and 4a of the M5

Motorists using the M5 in the West Midlands are being warned of long delays after an accident and a separate vehcile fire.

The southbound exit slip road at Junction 2 (Oldbury) is currently closed because of an accident and there are queues back past Junction 1 (West Bromwich) to the connection with the M6.

The situation is not expected to clear until, around 9am and drivers have been urged to avoid the area if possible.

There are also queues further south on the approach to Junction 4 (Bromsgrove) and 4a (connection with the M42) following a vehicle fire.

All roads past the scene have just re-opened but there are still delays for people looking to make an early getaway for the Bank Holiday.
