Manufacturer invests £300,000 to support continued growth

A West Midland manufacturer has invested more than £300,000 on new plant to sustain current growth.
West Bromwich-based Wrights Plastics Group has spent the money on a Cutlite Penta LM3020 laser cutting system, which will improve accuracy, increase production speeds and minimise waste.
The group, which also has a base in Shrewsbury, manufactures acrylic-based components for sectors as varied as automotive and retail display. Its clients include Marks & Spencer, Selfridges, The John Lewis Partnership, Jaguar Land Rover, The Morgan Car Company and Westfield Sports Cars.
Andy Watkins, commercial director, Wrights Plastics, said: “Our latest laser cutting system will help us improve our processes even more, ensuring we can offer clients a wider range of quality-driven services manufactured faster & more accurately than ever before.
“A spend of this size is a huge decision for any company but is essential for us to continue to grow the business. Clients know we are serious about continually improving what we can deliver and the staff can see we are committed to growing the business.”
He said the company had a history of early-adoption of the latest technology, often being the first in the UK to purchase leading-edge machinery and software.
The group comprises Wrights Plastics, Wrights GPX and Mid-West Displays.
Established in 1969, the family-owned business is a leading plastic products manufacturer with an annual turnover around £10m.
The group, based at the 42,000 sq ft factory in West Bromwich, expanded when its acquired Hertfordshire-based GPX Group in 2010, a move which enabled it to manufacture and supply a range of acrylic point of sale (POS) and retail display products.
Mid-West Displays was formed in 2004 and manufactures, supplies and installs window and interior display products for the retail, property and exhibition sectors. Around 40 people are employed at the Shrewsbury business, which also fabricates bespoke and off-the-shelf acrylic products.
